“I love volunteering and getting to know the devotees.”

Mr. Krishna Peri grew up in Hyderabad, India and came to the United States in January of 2001. He currently lives in West Chester, Pennsylvania. Mr. Peri volunteers in the front office of the temple at the register. He sells tickets for seva and archanas as well as handles pooja related transactions. Mr. Peri has been volunteering at the temple for more than 7 years. He does this because he is interested in service and giving back. His favorite part about volunteering is talking with devoteees and learning more about them. One event Mr. Peri looks forward to every year is the koti kumkum archana. He also loves shivaratri. He has learned a lot from the priests during his time as a volunteer, such as details about certain rituals and auspicious events.

Mr. Nagaiah Nandakumar grew up in Karnataka, India and came to the United States to do his Ph.D. in 1970. He earned his degree from the University of Illinois. He taught in Nebraska and later in Delaware.

Now Mr. Nandakumar is retired as a professor of Delaware State University. In the beginning of the temple he volunteered in the kitchen and for other work as needed. At present he volunteers in the temple office on Tuesday evenings. In the office, he answers phone calls who enquire about the upcoming events, whether they can have car pooja etc. For many enquiries he will direct them to an appropriate person. He explains to the devotees the various kinds of donations that they can offer including Archanas. He manages to sell various kinds of religious materials in the temple office.
